The Facilities and Infrastructure Department is comprised of housing, fire department, public works, roadways, asset management, development of community plans, policies, and capacity building.


Our vision is to foster a resilient and thriving community through comprehensive management and enhancement of our housing, infrastructure, and emergency services. We aim to create a sustainable environment where all members of the Wahnapitae First Nation have access to safe, reliable, and modern facilities that meet their needs and support their well-being.

Programs and Services

Housing Program

  • Safe and Affordable Housing: We provide various financing options, rental accommodations, and construction advisories to ensure all First Nation members have access to safe, affordable, and healthy living accommodations.
  • Emergency Housing Repairs: Rapid response to urgent housing needs to maintain the safety and integrity of community living spaces.
  • Regular Inspections: Implementing a regular cycle of inspections by qualified inspectors to ensure the maintenance and safety of housing.

Public Works

  • Infrastructure Maintenance and Enhancement: Responsible management of vital community infrastructure including roadways and public facilities.
  • Operational Excellence: Continuous monitoring, planning, and coordination of maintenance activities to uphold and enhance the quality of services.

Fire Department

  • Emergency Response Services: Providing quick, efficient, and high-quality emergency response services to both members and visitors of the Wahnapitae First Nation.
  • Safety and Preparedness: Enhancing community safety through education, prevention programs, and readiness in handling emergencies.

Additional Services

  • Tenant Relations: Managing relationships with tenants in First Nation rental units, ensuring satisfaction and addressing concerns proactively.
  • Grant Assistance: Assisting members with obtaining Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (RRAP) and Home Adaptations for Seniors’ Independence (HASCI) grants through the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).
