The Social Services department provides a variety of services and supports for social and family assistance. For more information on the services available to community members please contact the Social Services team.

Child Welfare Representation

The Band Representatives are available to on, and off-reserve community members, as well as those affiliated with Wahnapitae First Nation. It is your legal right to have your Band Representative present whenever a Child Welfare Worker asks to meet or speak with you.

The role of the Band Representative is to:

• ensure that the best interests of children are always the focus of the child welfare agency,

• help members understand and navigate the child welfare process or “the system”,

• Assist you and your family in resolving child protection /safety concerns highlighted by the child welfare agency,

• advocate for the protection of family units.
