Irvin George has over 30 years experience in various Management & Leadership positions while working for First Nations, First Nations organizations and the Federal and Provincial Governments such as Chiefs of Ontario, Assembly of First Nations, Union Of Ontario Indians, Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, Ontario Clean Water Agency, Aboriginal Healing and Wellness Strategy and my home community of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation. I am very pleased to be part of the team serving the citizens of Wahnapitae First Nation.

My name is Al Armstrong. I am the new Community Development Officer for Wahnapitae First Nation. I am working full time out of the band office. I am looking forward to meeting and working with the with the members of the Wahnapitae First Nation. My main responsibility will be as Housing Coordinator. With my past experience and future training, we can work together to better improve and enhance the development of our community.

Public Works Coordinator - Vince Roque

Vince Roque has been the Public Works Coordinator for over ten years. Vince is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of band property and equipment. Vince has recently completed training in Recycling protocols and septic tank installation.

Operator - Frank Recollet
Frank Recollet is the Operator for the Wahnapitae First Nation. Frank is the key operator for all heavy equipment and machinery with Wahnapitae and is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all band equipment and facilities. Frank has over 20 years experience in heavy equipment. Frank has recently completed training in Recycling protocols and septic tank installation.

Peter Recollet is a member of the Wahnapitae First Nation. He has been employed with the Community since 1995, starting with doing historical research in relation to our Land Claims. He provides research, technical, & negotiations to the Wahnapitae First Nation on economic & resource issues relating but not limited to: opportunities in tourism, forestry, mining, water, environment & land claims.

Cheryl Recollet has been the Environmental Coordinator since September 2009. Cheryl has recently completed her Master of Science Degree in Renewable Resources – Environmental Assessment from the McGill University/United Nations Environment Program Centre for Environmental Assessment. Cheryl has worked for Wahnapitae First Nation in several different capacities, first serving as a summer student, Policy Coordinator as well as the Youth Activities Coordinator.

Natural Resource Intern - Christian Lachapelle

Christian Lachapelle is the new Natural Resource Intern. He has just completed a third year Forestry Technologist program at Collège Boréal in Sudbury. For the past three summers, Christian has worked as a Fire Ranger for the OMNR. He hopes that his new position with the WFN will be the beginning of a long and exciting career in Natural Resources.

Sustainable Development Administrative Assistant - Raven Plante

Raven Plante is an assistant to the Sustainable Development staff and is a member of the Wahnapitae First Nation where she currently resides. The role of assistant is to provide research and administrative support. Raven is a high-school graduate and college educated. Raven’s career ambitions include lands and resource planning and economic development. She is excited to work alongside the Sustainable Development team and welcomes the opportunity for learning and skills development.

Geospatial Applications Specialist - Nicole Recollet
Nicole Recollet is the Geospatial Applications Specialist. Nicole is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Geographic Information System (GIS) for the community of WFN, where she will be focusing on many projects dealing with land development and WFN historical lands. Having assisted with the WFN shoreline classification study for MNR, Nicole hope to integrate this archived data into our GIS database. A graduate from the Civil Engineering Technologist program at Cambrian College and also receiving a Certificate in Geographical Information System - Application Specialist program at Sault Collage will allow Nicole to contribute valuable skills to GIS projects for WFN. Nicole will be returning to school in the fall at Algoma University enrolled in the Liberal Science Degree program.

Lynn Cote began working as a Health Director in April 2006 and before that she worked as a Mental Health Coordinator on a three-month contract in January 2004. Her background education includes an Honours Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Education and a 2 year diploma in Business Administration Accounting.

Wendy Tyson began working as a Youth/Housing/Education Coordinator in July of 2001. In the year 2003 she changed hats and become the Community Wellness Worker. Her background education includes a grade 12 diploma, a college diploma as a Personal Support Worker and she is also a Certified Food Educator.

Debbie has a wide range of experience working in Native organizations and government positions. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Native Studies and Psychology from Laurentian University. She has a keen interest in health & physical activity; Native culture, language & tradition and empowering people with education, skills and tools. With her educational background, work experience and interests she runs programs for children and youth of the community as well as programs for families with children aged 0-6 yrs of age.
