Centre of Excellence

Inspired by LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), the Wahnapitae First Nation Centre of Excellence will implement a number of green initiatives including passive solar heating, geothermal technology, energy conservation, low-impact storm water management, use of recycled and ‘green’ building products and naturalized, low maintenance landscaping.

Sensitively placed on the site, the surrounding forest to the North of the building will be maintained with a circular community walking path provided around the building complete with fire pits to the north, south, west and east.  

Truly a destination, the Centre of Excellence will:

• house the governance,
• administration,
• finance,
• Sustainable Development,
• Housing,
• Health Clinic,
• and multi purpose hall,
• accommodate current / future needs of the community,
• serve as a hub for the Wahnapitae First Nation.
